Penetration of Tocopherol (Vitamin E)
10% DL-alpha-Tocopherol
Studies by:
Nanosomes are vesicles based on phospholipids (at least PC80) as emulsifier.
10% each of natural DL-alpha-tocopherol were encapsulated in Lipo-Tops or nanosomes.
The effect of a solution containing pure vitamin E was set to 100%.
By encapsulating tocopherol into nanosomes, the antioxidative potential was increased to 350% in the viable skin.
The free radical scavening effects of vitamin E in the skin could be again boosted more than 2-times by the application of Lipo-Tops Tocopherol.
The anti-oxidative effect of Lipo-Tops Tocopherol will last for much longer time compared to the other applications (shown in the figure).

Determination of the skin penetration depth of a lipophilic fluoroscence dye (Dil) encapsulated in different carrier systems by confocal laser scan miscroscopy
1,1-Diocytadecyl-3,3,3,3-tetramethylindocarbocyanine perchlorate (Dil) [lipophil, moleculae weight = 934 Dalton]
The encapsulated fluorescence dye was applied onto the skin (ex vivo).
12 hours after application the Penetration of DiI (red model substance) was determined by confocal laser scan microscopy.
