Lipo-Tops in general

Challenge
– Active substances with high molecular weights (> 500 Da) are too big to pass the stratum corneum and to reach the viable skin area.

– Oil-soluble active ingredients cannot be easily incorporated into water-based formulations such as gels, sera or masks like bacterial nanocellulose (BNC).
Solution Lipo-Tops:
– O/W nanoemulsion with unique properties

– Size 80 – 200 nm, homogeneous particle size

– Penetrating into the skin

– Based on edible vegetable emulsifiers

– Encapsulation of up to 20% of oil and oil-soluble substances by only using 5% of emulsifier

Advantages

Active ingredients effectively reach the deeper and viable skin layers
Up to 20-times higher encapsulation efficiency of lipophilic components and oil into Lipo-Tops compared to liposomes. Into liposomes no encapsulation of oil is possible and only a small amount of lipophilic substances.
Stabilization of the active ingredients
Skin-friendly carrier system because only a small amount of emulsifiers is needed for the production of the nanovesicles (4 to 5 times less than microemulsions)
Loading of water-based formulations like bacterial nanocellulose network (wound-dressing, face masks) with lipophilic active ingredients concentration up to 2%
